Stormzy

Stormzy gained recognition in the UK underground music scene with his Wicked Skengman series, featuring freestyles over classic grime beats. He independently released his debut EP, Dreamers Disease, in July 2014. Stormzy's talent was further acknowledged when he won the Best Grime Act award at the MOBO Awards on October 22, 2014. Later that month, he made history as the first unsigned rapper to perform on Later... with Jools Holland, showcasing his track "Not That Deep" from Dreamers Disease. Additionally, in November 2014, Stormzy collaborated with rapper Chip and Shalo on the track "I'm Fine" and appeared in its accompanying music video.

In May 2016, Stormzy publicly supported Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, citing admiration for Corbyn's activism in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.

Stormzy, a Christian, participated in the BBC's Christmas Day lineup in 2019 by reading a passage from the Gospel of Luke. He was previously in a long-term relationship with media presenter Maya Jama and has reportedly rekindled their romance, as they have been photographed together in Greece and on a date night out in London in October 2023.

Stormzy established the "Stormzy Scholarship for Black UK Students" at the University of Cambridge, providing financial support for tuition fees and maintenance grants for up to four years for two students. He had initially approached the University of Oxford with a similar proposal, but they declined to participate, as stated by Stormzy himself.
