Kofi Kingston

Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah (born August 14, 1981) is a Ghanaian-born American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, performing on the Raw brand under the ring name Kofi Kingston and is part of The New Day.

Birth of Kofi Kingston

Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah was born in Ghana on August 14, 1981.

Early Life 

He moved to the United States with his family and attended Winchester High School. Later, he graduated from Boston College, majoring in communications.

 

Training and Wrestling Debut

Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah began training in late 2005. He made his official wrestling debut in 2006 for Chaotic Wrestling. Competed primarily in the New England area in various wrestling promotions.

 

 

 

WWE Development

Kofi Ssgned with WWE in September 2006.Assigned to Deep South Wrestling and later to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Wrestled dark matches on Raw and appeared in developmental territories.

 

Intercontinental Champion

Kofi made his debut on WWE's ECW in January 2008 and claimed the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Chris Jericho at Night of Champions 2008, retaining the title until SummerSlam later that year.

 

 

 
 
 
 
 
 

United States Champion 

On June 1, 2009, Kofi secured the United States Championship by defeating MVP, successfully defending the title on numerous occasions before relinquishing it to The Miz on October 5, 2009. During this period, he transitioned his character billing from Jamaica to Ghana.

Formation of The New Day

In 2014, Kofi co-founded The New Day faction alongside Big E and Xavier Woods, achieving multiple WWE Tag Team Championship victories and setting a new record for the longest reign in WWE history as tag team champions.

WWE Champion

In 2018, Kofi transitioned into a solo competitor, becoming part of a storyline dubbed KofiMania, which culminated in his inaugural WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania 35.

Drafts and Career Developments

In the 2023 WWE Draft, Kofi was drafted to the Raw brand, where he maintained a presence in both singles and tag team competitions while also extending his reach into media and entertainment ventures beyond the realm of wrestling.
