Daniel McKorley

Daniel McKorley is a Ghanaian business magnate and the founder, chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies. McKorley was awarded the title of Entrepreneur of the Year (2016) at the Ghana Aviation Awards

Daniel McKorley, born in La, Accra, initially had to drop out of the University of Ghana due to financial constraints but eventually earned a diploma in Leadership from Lehigh University, a BSc and EMBA in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship from GIMPA, and an honorary doctorate from the London Business School, along with various post-graduate certificates in entrepreneurship, leadership, transport, and logistics.

Career

Daniel McKorley serves as the CEO of the McDan Group of Companies, which includes the McDan Shipping Company established in 1999, operating globally with headquarters in Accra and branches in Tema and Takoradi, and having partnerships with Universal Freight Organization, Cross Trades, and World Cargo Alliance (WCA) for a presence in over 2000 major air and sea ports worldwide.

Personal life

McKorley is in a marital relationship with Abigail McKorley and Roberta McKorley, and they have children; however, he has faced legal consequences as the Accra High Court convicted him for contempt due to his deliberate disobedience of court orders regarding disputed lands in East Legon, resulting in a fine of GH¢40,000.

Honors and recognition

McKorley received the following awards: The Achievers Award by West Africa Regional magazine, Nominee for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of West Africa in 2015, Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016, Freight Forwarding and Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013, and CIMG Marketing Man of the Year in 2017.

McKorley demonstrated his support for various causes by presenting an air-conditioned Benz Bus to the Ghana Tennis Federation, contributing GH¢10,000 to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, and providing GH¢5,000 to assist actor Psalm Adjeteyfio in September 2021.
