Early Life

Lydia Seyram Alhassan was born on January 1, 1970, in Atiavi, a town in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Education

Alhassan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor of Administration degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Political Ascent (By-Elections)

In January 2019, Lydia Seyram Alhassan made a significant stride in her political career. She contested the parliamentary seat for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, a position left vacant by her late husband, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko, who passed away on 21 November 2018.  Lydia Seyram Alhassan emerged victorious with an impressive 68.80 percent of the valid votes cast.

Continued Success

Lydia Seyram Alhassan's success in the by-election paved the way for her to contest in the 2020 Ghanaian general election under the banner of the New Patriotic Party. In this election, she faced notable opposition in the form of Ghanaian celebrity and NDC candidate John Dumelo. However, Alhassan secured victory once again, polling 9,851 of the valid votes cast.
