Jean Adukwei Mensa, a Ghanaian lawyer, has been serving as the chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana since July 2018.

Career

Jean Adukwei Mensa assumed the role of Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana on July 23, 2018, following the removal of her predecessor. With over two decades of experience, she has emerged as a leader in policy research and advocacy. Mensa has contributed to the development of key policies, including the Presidential Transition Act of 2012, the Revised 1992 Constitution of Ghana (draft), the Political Parties Funding Bill, and the Revised Political Parties Bill. Her expertise lies in formulating and executing policy alternatives that align with international standards while addressing Ghana's specific requirements. This appointment marks her first significant role in the public sector.

ECOWAS

Jean Mensa has received recognition for her leadership, including being ranked by the African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) as one of Ghana's Top 60 Corporate Women Leaders in 2017. She has also received awards such as the Excellent Leadership Award from the EXLA Group in 2013 and the Young Professional Role Model in Governance Award from the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition Initiative in 2014.

Additionally, in July 2023, Mrs. Mensah was selected as a member of the ECOWAS and AU Joint Pre-election Fact-finding Mission to Liberia ahead of the country's election on October 10, 2023.
