Joyce Bawah Mogtari is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician
1997
Mogtari completed her secondary education at Wesley Girls' Senior High School and earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Holborn College, University of London in 1997. She holds a master’s degree in maritime law from Malta's International Maritime Law Institute, where she won the IMO Legal Committee Chairman's Award. Additionally, she has a master's degree in conflict resolution and mediation from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Ghana.
2000
After being admitted to the bar in 2000, Mogtari began her legal career at Sey & Co. She later worked as a consultant for the Venture Capital Trust Fund and KPMG. From 2007 to 2013, she held dual roles as the President of the Ghana Shippers' Authority and the Head of its Legal Department and Solicitor Secretary.
2013
John Dramani Mahama appointed Mogtari to be the deputy minister of transportation in March 2013. She held the position up to January 2017. She spoke on behalf of John Dramani Mahama's 2016 presidential campaign.
2016
Mogtari is a member of the National Democratic Congress. Over the years, she has participated in many committees and campaign teams for the party, including working as a member of the 30-person legal team. She served as the campaign's spokesman for President John Dramani Mahama during the 2016 general elections. She was chosen by Mahama to serve as his special assistant and representative after the elections.

Mogtari is married and has four children. She is the younger sister of Otiko Afisa Djaba, a former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Mogtari is a member of both the African Women Lawyers Association and the Ghana Bar Association. She is also a fellow of the USA-International Visitor Leadership Program.
