Annual Awards

The winners of the 2023 AUDE awards were announced on 5 April at our annual conference at the University of Liverpool. The AUDE awards are an annual highlight for the association, giving us a chance to focus on some of the fantastic estates and facilities teams, and their projects, that contribute so significantly to the success of our universities, year-round. Summer School Residential Programme

Another sell out and highly successful residential for aspiring directors of estates held at the University of Northampton. Delegates heard from some of the most experienced directors of estates and facilities as well as guest evening speakers from AUDE business partners and sector providers. See more about the event.

New Net Zero Cost Calculator launches

AUDE, BUFDG (the British Universities Finance Directors Group) and the EAUC (the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education) launched their new Cost of Net Zero Calculator tool in July. This was alongside a report 'The Cost of Net Zero' which sets the new tool in context, and has been delivered by Energise (a sustainability consultancy supporting organisations and sectors to collaboratively address their carbon footprint by providing expertise and tools) with additional funding from the Department for Education. Launch of new business partner OCS 

AUDE was thrilled to announce their latest business partnership with OCS. OCS Group is an international facilities services company. They have one of the largest global FM footprints, with a 100-year history of service excellence, including over 20 years working with universities across the UK and will add huge value to members. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training completes for members

AUDE’s 12-part EDI series completes, having seen 1,500 delegates attend this CPD accredited course. The webinars covered several key topics such as neurodiversity inclusion, mental health, autism awareness and many more. See the recordings.

AUDE became very proud winners of the Association Excellence Awards for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champion for our work in imbedding EDI into strategy. Our three year business strategy was underpinned by a thread of wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion and has created several activities to embed further. Higher Education Estates Report Issued

AUDE’s annual Estates Management Report (EMR) is the best and most considered analysis that UK universities have to help them make the right long-term strategic decisions about their estates. Estates Directors use the report to benchmark estates activity, and for the facts and accurate data that support the biggest choices about future investment. Download the current EMR report.

Big Conversation event

The AUDE Big Conversation event for 2023 took place at St Hugh's College, University of Oxford with over 100 delegates. The theme ‘Walking confidently through the minefield’ covered the challenging topics the sector is facing right now. Read the event write up.

New report on optimising university estates

The ‘Optimising University Estates’ report from The Education Design Unit (EDU) is a collaboration between specialist practices Make Architects, Elliott Wood, Max Fordham, Gustafson Porter + Bowman and ZZA Responsive User Environments. It looked at the requirements expected of the current and future campus in a holistic way in their thinking about ‘optimising the university estate’, bringing together a wide variety of insights; an awareness of multiple audiences each with differing expectations; and a consciousness of huge existing challenges around ongoing HE funding, the rapidity of technological change, the need to progress rapidly with net zero carbon planning, and more. Business partner launch with Maris Interiors

The launch of AUDE’s business partnership was marked with an in person event at Buckinghamshire New University's £20m development. It gave members an insight into how Maris provided a turn-key, D&B solution and delivered a complex £20m project in just 61 weeks, transforming tired, legacy buildings and creating the ‘heart of the campus’ for Buckinghamshire New University. Sustainability Annual Report

The 2023 sustainability leadership scorecard (SLS) annual impact report from AUDE and EAUC shares insights into the current statistics and recent developments of the SLS. It examines what these results suggest about the sector’s strategic approach to sustainability, and makes recommendations that support a shift towards more inclusive strategic sustainability action in the sector. Business partnership launch with Litmus

Litmus joined AUDE as our latest business partner and held a webinar on how benchmarking can optimise FM operations for members. See more on Litmus.

New Showcase event opens for bookings

AUDE’s Showcase event is a brand new concept event for the association in which we will be highlighting the huge amount of great work done by our special interest groups. The Showcase is being held at the University of Nottingham’s East Midlands Conference Centre on 3 September, with a site tour and hospitality options in the afternoon and evening of 2 September.
