Wendy Shay

Wendy Asiamah Addo, who goes by the stage name Wendy Shay, is a Ghanaian singer. In March 2021, she was recognized as one of the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music at the 3Music Awards Women's Brunch. 

 
 
 
 

Education and Musical Beginnings

After attending Morning Star School and St Martin de Porres in Accra, Wendy Shay continued her education in Stuttgart, Germany, from grade 7 (JHS 1). Her passion for music started at an early age, and she even enrolled in a music school in Bernhausen, Germany. 

Career Transition

Wendy Shay's entry into the music scene was facilitated by Rufftown Records Manager Bullet. She officially joined the label in January 2018, following the unfortunate passing of label mate Ebony Reigns. 

Debut Single "Uber Driver"

On 1 June 2018, Wendy Shay released her debut single, "Uber Driver," produced by MOG Beatz. The accompanying music video was also unveiled on the same day, marking a significant milestone in her musical journey. 

Ahenemba Hemaa Enstoolment (Gomoa Afransi)

Wendy Shay received the honor of being enstooled as the Ahenemba Hemaa of Gomoa Afransi in the Central Region of Ghana. She holds the stool name Queen Ewurabena Ofosuhemaa Shay 1. 

Brand Ambassadorship and Controversy

Wendy Shay serves as the brand ambassador for the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in Ghana. Despite facing controversy and rumors of being sacked, it was later confirmed that she retained her position as the Ambassador. 

Notable Performances and Awards

Wendy Shay has graced various stages, performing at events like Miss Ghana 2018 Finals, RTP Awards Africa 2018, and the BF Suma Ghana Connect 18 concert. Her talent has earned her accolades, including the Discovery of the Year at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and recognition at the 3Music Awards. In 2022, her performance in Belgium at the Ghana Culture Festival was unfortunately interrupted by the police.
